Belgium have a special connection with EuroVolley Women. They have already hosted it three times, the last time in 2015. The best performance of the team was in Germany and Switzerland in 2013, when the Yellow Tigers claimed a historic bronze medal.
The silver medal winners from last year’s World Championship, will be out to try and better that performance at the European level.
A new generation of players, led by coach Jacek Nawrocki, have been making steady progress in recent events continuing to prove that youth can challenge experience inside the Volleyball court.
The qualification for EuroVolley 2019 represents the biggest achievement to this date for the women’s national team of Portugal.
After the second place claimed at the 2017 FIVB U23 World Championship, which is by far the biggest achievement for any women’s team sport in Slovenia, it is now time for this generation to achieve another milestone.
They are the bronze medal winners of the 1993 European Championship while they finished seventh in 1995 and 1997 – and fourth in 2001. Their resume includes 9th place, 15th place and 13th place from the 2003, 2011 and 2017 editions of the continental showpiece event.
