Overview
The second match of the day is Netherlands VS Spain. They are opening their #EuroVolleyM 2021 campaign at Hakametsä Hall in Tampere. Even if they won only three games, the Netherlands showed their skill at the summer FIVB Nations League. Spain took part in CEV Golden League during summer, finishing 7th.
European Champions 1997 and five-time medalists, The Netherlands, are taking part in their 27th EuroVolley. For Spain, this is 10th time in #EurovolleyM, and they are also European Champions from Moscow 2007. The last time teams met at #EuroVolleyM was back in 2007 when Spain won 3-1 and won the European Championship five days later. In the previous EuroVolley edition 2019, The Netherlands took 10th and Spain 15th place on final standings. Both teams were dropped out from the Round of 16: The Netherlands lost to Germany 1-3 and Spain to Poland 0-3.

Venue Information
Tampere Ice Stadium, also known as Hakametsä Stadium, was Finland’s first ice stadium originally built for the 1965 Ice Hockey World Championships. The legendary stadium is well suited for various competitions, trade fairs, concerts and other large-scale events. Hakametsä Icehall is just less than 4 km from the city centre and it is easily achievable walking or with you own car, taxi or bus. You can walk from city centre to venue in 45 minutes and see beautiful sites of Tampere at the same time. By bus you can found Hakametsä with many diffrent buslines: 3A, 3B, 6, 9A, 17, 25, 29A, 29B, 40A, 80. All these bring you to less than half kilometer from the venue. By car you can found venue (address Keltinkatu 2) next to Hervannan valtaväylä on eastside of the citycentre. Parking places next to the venue are limited during EuroVolley. Get directions

Bio
Thijs ter Horst is the powerhouse for the Dutch on the outside. After having played three years in Korea for the Daejeon Samsung Bluefangs he returned to Italy where he previously played for Verona. He joined Piacenza and after a year he transferred to Sir Sicoma Perugia in 2020. He played most of the season as opposite and can be used by head coach Piazza on both positions.

Robbert Andringa“It was a very close match indeed but I think that we made the difference by claiming a small advantage in each set, mainly courtesy of our service game. Turkey beat Russia earlier today and this may be a surprise for sure – but this is the European Championship and anything can happen here. Our first and main goal is to make it out of this pool in the best possible way and after that, we hope to make it as far as we possibly can in this tournament.”
