After 58 years, Romania is able to host a continental scale volleyball competition again. In the exquisite BTarena from Cluj-Napoca, team Romania will open the dance alongside team Turkey in what we expect to be a guaranteed thriller!     Opened in 2014, the BTarena is a multi-purpose indoor arena. Is one of the biggest and most modern of its kind in southeastern Europe. It can house more than 7,000 guests for sporting events and around 10.000 for a concert. The arena opened on 21 October 2014. The arena hosted a concert, on 31 October 2014, by English musician James Blunt, who sang from his album Moon Landing. The concert had an attendance of upwards of 6.000. Since then, Julio Iglesias, Eros Ramazzotti, Lara Fabian and Modern Talking have held concerts in BTarena. In 2017, the European Gymnastics Championship took place inside. The arena's seating capacity for basketball games was expanded to 10.000 seats for the FIBA EuroBasket 2017. In recent years, many Fed Cup tennis matches have been played at the BT Arena. Turkey starts EuroVolley with a comeback on Romania

Romania, the city of Cluj-Napoca, BTarena: The Group D opener has brought volleyball of highest quality during the match between hosts Romania and group favourites Turkey. Driven by the home fans, Romania tried to match Turkey's firepower and wanted to send the fans home happy. However, Romania's enthusiasm was no match for Turkey, who won the game 3 sets to 1.Romania served first and won the first few points to get a comfortable lead.Fired up by the fans, team Romania won the first in style and gave a frenetic crowd something to cheer on, with a great performance by Ungureanu. The second set brought out the best from Turkey who comfortably cruised to an equalizer. From then on, the match has been going in only one direction. A dominant performance from Karakurt turned the tides in favour of team Turkey. Karakurt finished the game with 26 points, way ahead of Romania’s Carutasu, who finished with 17 points. Turkey took no chances and sealed the win off with 3-1.
